The open day everyone wants to attend: The Woburn Estate Wedding Fair.

The Woburn Weddings Team put on two big wedding fairs each year when they invite couples and their friends and families to visit the grounds of The Woburn Estate and meet businesses from the local, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire wedding industries. This type of event is a grand showcase of one of the three beautiful wedding venues that the estate offers. The Sculpture Gallery is one of the most outstanding venues for weddings, parties and corporate events in the Home Counties.

We attended this years’ autumn wedding show and met the team who work with bridal couples and their families. The service that the Woburn Weddings Team provides is professional and polished where the unique setting of The Woburn Estate offers any event an unforgettable edge. These sentiments are shared by the individuals who were invited to attend as one of the more than 40 exhibitors who we spoke to at the fair. Malcom Taylor, owner of Fogarty Formal Hire, spoke to us about his loyal relationship with Woburn. He had only praise for the events team, both back-of-house and the customer facing force, as he mentioned the high standards upheld throughout the different venues at The Woburn Estate. Malcom told us that for every type of event that he has worked at for Woburn Weddings, the hospitality is always top-notch as the team are committed to making sure that every aspect is perfect. “It is the luxurious setting and the superb service that makes Woburn stand out from any other local wedding venue on the market,” Malcom insisted. The events team are clearly dedicated to the name of The Woburn Estate and to the experience of all the guests.

We managed to find a space in the packed ceremony hall area of The Sculpture Gallery where a catwalk had been set up with seating all around and luxurious lighting. As we were showed through to the seating area, we were welcomed with Woburn Abbey ice-cream cones from the quaint little cart that Woburn use for events in the summer. The whole space was full with attendees perching between columns at the furthest end of the space to catch a glimpse of the show. The fashion show provided brides, grooms and their mothers an inspirational display of what is on trend this year and the styles that are being made by designers with over 30 years of experience. A wide array of dresses, hats and men’s formal wear were modelled to the audience and The Sculpture Gallery’s Duty Manager, Anthony Green, could be heard giving a brief description of the designers’ backgrounds and collections.

After the catwalk show, attendees were invited to mill around the gallery rose gardens, a private space kept separate from the Abbey Gardens for weddings and events. From here we walked across the courtyard to the Antiques Quarter, a stunning set of corridors with a mock-up of Victorian shop fronts built inside. A truly unique experience, and only one you can expect from such a venue as Woburn Abbey. For their wedding fairs each shop space is rented out to a different business or retailer with one stand donated to a charity. This year Willen Hospice attended to raise awareness of their Christmas campaign.  There was a range of wedding services to find out about from invitation stationary and photography to chocolate fountains and sleight of hand artists such as Dean Maudsley.

We spoke to the musicians from Ariella Strings who gave a beautiful rendition of Pachelbel’s Canon and often attend Woburn wedding open days as well as performing at many events held at The Woburn Estate. In the shop next door was a display of handmade charms and gifts for wedding favours crafted by Joanna, of the award-winning Charms by Joanna. Another stand-out exhibitor for us was Sugar Designs, an independent cake couture company run by Rachel. We had a look at her beautiful designs and the styles that are trending this year. Rachel offered us a sample of her lemon drizzle and its clear to see – and to taste – why she is an award-winning cake designer.

The most striking thing that we learnt from talking to exhibitors about the blog post was the loyalty each of them had for the Woburn Weddings team. Many of the business owners had been to Woburn Estate Wedding Fairs in the past and would return for the next big open day happening 19th February 2017. The staff, events team and the exhibitors are all ambassadors of The Woburn Estate name and as this wedding fair was a showcase of the venue as much as the individual local businesses, it was a credit to Woburn Weddings as one of the biggest and most impressive wedding fair in the area.
